Clarksville, VA—The Clarksville Community Players and Director Charlie Simmons with Musical Director Don Hite are holding auditions for the upcoming spring musical production of ANNIE GET YOUR GUN.
Auditions will be held at the Fine Arts Center, located at 914 Virginia Avenue in Clarksville, on Sunday, January 28 and Tuesday, January 30, 2017 at 7pm.
All roles are open and auditions are open to everyone. At auditions, everyone will be asked to cold read from the script. Actors, including those auditioning for ensemble should come prepared with a 1-minute comedic reading and with the music to sing a song in the style of the show. There will not be an accompanist at this audition, but you may bring a device that plays digital or a cd accompaniment if needed and one will be available. Please dress comfortably for movement/dance exercises.
Besides a cast of 40+ people both onstage and off, Mr. Simmons will specifically be looking for actors for the following lead roles:
Annie Oakley—a sharpshooter in the Wild West show (Female Lead, Mezzo-Soprano)
Frank Butler—the Wild West show’s star (Male Lead, Baritone)
Dolly Tate—Frank’s flamboyant assistant (Female Supporting, Alto)
Buffalo Bill—owner of the Wild West show (Male Supporting, Baritone)
Chief Sitting Bull—Sioux chief and holy man; Annie’s protector (Male Featured, spoken)
Tommy Keeler—knife-thrower in the Wild West show; Winnie’s boyfriend; part Native American (Male Supporting, Tenor)
Charlie Davenport—manager of the Wild West show (Male Featured, Baritone)
Winnie Tate—Dolly’s sister; Tommy’s girlfriend and his assistant in the knife-throwing act (Female Supporting, Mezzo-Soprano)
Pawnee Bill—owner of a competing western show (Male Featured, spoken)
Foster Wilson—hotel owner (Male Featured, spoken)
Annie’s brothers and sisters: Jessie (Female Featured, Alto), Little Jake (Male Featured, Alto), Nellie (Female, Featured)
Ensemble: Cowboys, Roustabouts, Cowgirls, Royals of Europe, Indians, New York Socialites.
